Number 9. The Verve.

I wanted to do so many songs by so many different bands on Youtube, and choosing the next one to do was quite difficult considering the wide choices I had, but finally I opted for a song by one of my favourite bands over time. Their album “Urban hymns” has been played many times in my house and car. The band was “The verve” and the song was “The drugs dont work”.

Apparently Richard Ashcroft penned this song about his mothers struggle with cancer. Which adds other dimensions to the song as far as emotional content is concerned.

I used to love singing along to this song, long before I knew what it was really about. I always assumed it was about love, and not drugs.

There were other songs by the verve that I enjoyed singing. I think I can say that for a number of bands. So it’s not a surprise that I covered more than one of their songs :)
